What Is Anxiety?

Anxiety is a natural emotional response to stress. Those affected with anxiety have feelings of worry, fear, or unease. While occasional anxiety is a normal part of life, persistent and excessive anxiety that interferes with daily functioning may indicate an anxiety disorder. Symptoms include restlessness, irritability, muscle tension, and difficulty concentrating. Anxiety can manifest in various forms, such as generalized anxiety disorder (GAD), social anxiety disorder, or panic disorder. It often involves excessive anticipation of future events and can be influenced by genetic, environmental, and neurological factors. Managing anxiety may involve therapy, medications, lifestyle changes, or a combination of approaches.

What Is Depression?

Depression is a mental health disorder that is characterized by persistent feelings of sadness, hopelessness, and a lack of interest or pleasure in daily activities. It goes beyond normal mood fluctuations and can impact various aspects of life, including sleep, appetite, and energy levels. Symptoms may include fatigue, changes in appetite or weight, sleep disturbances, feelings of guilt or worthlessness, difficulty concentrating, and thoughts of death or suicide. Depression can be triggered by a combination of genetic, biological, environmental, and psychological factors. Treatment may involve psychotherapy, medications, lifestyle changes, and support from mental health professionals.
